HISTORY

 

The Chicago Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association (CCBFA) was formed in 1967 as a non-profit, professional organization of international trade practitioners. Over the past forty-nine years, membership has grown to over two hundred firms actively engaged in Customs brokerage, freight forwarding, and related import / export trade business.

 

GOALS & OBJECTIVES

The Board of Directors and specifically empowered committees execute this mission through many forms of activity, such as:

Analyzing issues confronting the trade community.
Meeting regularly with local government agencies and members to advocate effective policies.
Communicating relevant information to the trade.
Conducting seminars and conferences to foster professional growth.
Sponsoring events and activities that develop acquaintance and good fellowship among members.

The association strives to enhance industry professionalism by:

CCBFA offers two types of membership: Regular and Associate.

Regular

Regular membership is open to any individual or firm that holds a Customs brokerage license, is a TSA-permitted Indirect Air Carrier or FMC-licensed Ocean Transportation Intermediary (OTI).

Associate membership is open to all other interested parties, especially those engaged in businesses in and around the international supply chain including, but not limited to,  trucking, warehousing,  insurance, consulting, education, technology and law.

Affiliate

This membership class is for companies who support the business of Regular members. Your company qualifies for affiliate membership if you are, for instance, a trucker, surety, law firm, technology company or other professional services firm.

Affiliated Association

There are strength in numbers, and this class of membership is extended to local or national trade associations who are in the business of supporting, or who count as their members, customs brokers, OTI’s or IAC’s and similar companies and individuals who would qualify for Regular or Affiliate membership status.
